ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION
Luce Collection
The Frederick A. Luce Collection documents decades of amateur archaeological work throughout the Greater Haverhill area.
Frederick Alanson Luce was an early avocational archaeologist active in the early 20th century who conducted digs throughout the Greater Haverhill and Merrimack Valley region. His collection includes arrow points, stone tools, bone implements, and other archaeological artifacts that help tell the story of life in the area long before European settlement. The collection is catalogued and available to explore online through the Buttonwoods Museum’s dedicated archive.
