Become a Tour Guide

The Buttonwoods Museum is seeking volunteer guides to lead seasonal tours of the three historic properties on site.  Becoming a guide is a fun way to learn new skills while making an important contribution to the life of the Museum. We are looking for volunteers to commit to 3 hours per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m., May 1 through October 31st.  Guides must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with groups of all ages.  A background in history or education is preferred but not necessary.  All volunteers will receive thorough training.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:

Curatorial Assistant: Works on cataloging collections, upgrading storage facilities, and researching objects.

Researcher: Assists with research on various topics relating to the collections, buildings, exhibitions, and publications.

Publicity Assistant: Works on developing newsletter, related publications, as well as publicizing the Museum’s events.

School Programs/Outreach: Assists with developing programs for school children and senior citizens; assists with Scout programs. Camp assistants are also needed (high school students welcome).

Other: Any special skills you’d like to share and help us? Contact us and let us know of your volunteer idea.
